Windows 8 tablets from Lenovo

Lenovo is the king of laptops, but not yet demonstrated their strength in the tablet market. In this article, I will discuss the potential for Lenovo in the tablet market, according to the analysts.

Lenovo makes some of the best laptops in the market. In fact, I am typing this from a Lenovo ideapad. Before this one, I have been using another Lenovo laptop from my company, which I used several years. My previous Lenovo laptop was abused to the maximum and still served me more than 3 years with absolutely no complaints.

No doubts, Lenovo makes some of the best laptops. But how about Tablet computers? When it comes to tablet PC, Lenovo is yet to show it's strength. In fact, I have not really seen anyone using a Lenovo tablet PC yet. This does not mean they are not popular or they are not good. I just haven't seen anyone using it, that's all. Tablets are not so popular in India, and I work from home, so chances of meeting many people with a tablet in hand is rare.

Windows 8 Tablet PC from Lenovo

Even though Lenovo has been making tablets with Android for a while, teyhave been pretty reluctant to promote Windows based tablet computers. There are couple of Windows 7 based Lenovo tablets, but you can easily locate them in their online shop or even in their product listing. Lenovo has been shy to market them.

While it is hard to locate them in the official Lenovo shops, you can find some lenovo windows 7 tablet at Amazon.com.

However, analysts think that Lenovo is gearing up to go aggressive on Windows 8 based tablets. By end of next year, we should be able to see a decent list of Windows 8 tablets from Lenovo, the laptop market leader.

New Windows based tablets from Lenovo

Lenovo recently announced couple of new Windows tablets. They are yet to come to the market, but you can still find some details on the web.

Lenovo IdeaPad P1 is the latest Window tablet computer from Lenovo. The IdeaPad p1 is expected to be released by end of 2011. Currently, this is a Windows 7 based computer, but once Microsoft release the Windows 8, we can expect a Windows 8 version of IdeaPad P1 tablet.

Surprisingly, Lenovo has very less information on their website regarding Ideapad P1, leaving room for lot of confusion and rumors. Don't be surprised if Lenovo hold on the release of the Windows tablet until Windows 8 come up. Other than a news post on Lenovo website, you can't really find much about this new baby on their website.

Should we wait for Windows 8 before investing on a Tablet PC?

Since Microsoft recently announced the new Windows 8 optimized for tablets, I think Lenovo should have waited until the picture is clear to come up with the new Windows tablets. Lenovo do not own a big share in the tablet market anyway, so they could have waited and come up with great Windows 8 tablets and offer a challenge to iPads and Android tablets. Not many people are going to invest much on a Windows 7 tablet which is not really designed for tablet computers.
