Compare Aakash 1 and Aakash 2 Tablet PCs

Most people were excited when they heard about the Aakash tablet PC, which was sold at a very low price. Another exciting news has hit the tablet PC market about the upgraded version of Aakash 2. Aakash 2 Tablet: A concept design by IIT Rajastan
Aakash 2 is a concept design by IIT Rajastan, which is an upgrade to the existing low cost tablet PC called Aakash. The original Aakash tablet is manufactured by DataWind. The manufacturers are selling a retail version called "Ubislate 7".
Problems in Aakash Tablet PC
Aakash tablet PC is reported to have several issues including:
1. Low memory
2. Poor sound quality
3. Absence of a camera
4. Poor performance
and so on...
Aakash 2 is meant to resolve all these problems reported on Aakash 1 tablet.
Compare Aakash 1 and Aakash 2: Find differences
Aakash 2 is a major upgrade to the original lowest cost Aakash tablet PC.
Some of the major differences include:
Aakash 1 uses Android 2.2 but Aakash 2 might include the latest Android 2.3 version (Gingerbread)
Faster Processor: Aakash 2 has a faster processor (800 MHz) compared to the 366 MHz processor used in original Aakash tablet PC.
Another difference is the memory. The old version comes with only 256 Mb RAM. But the Aakash 2 comes with a significant improvement - 1Gb RAM.
Aakash 2 has a higher battery life. Old version had only 3 hour battery life, but Aakash 2 will have 5 hour battery life.
Aakash 2 comes with a front facing camera.
Another significant improvement is on the screen. Aakash 2 will have a much better touch screen.
Even with significant improvements, if you

, you will find that Aakash 2 still lack a lot of features like GPRS internet connectivity and so on.
How to buy Aakash 2 in India?
Aakash 2 is not yet available for purchase. It is expected to be available in the market by Feb 2012 at the same price of Aakash 1 without any government subsidy (about $49 - Rs 2275).
A more advanced and commercial version of Aakash tablet called "Ubislate 7" is available for retail purchase at the price of Rs 2,999.
