Job hunt for various professionals

There is no way to get around it; things are pretty rough out there for plenty of people looking for work. The funny thing about the unemployment rate (funny may not be the right term here, but you know what I mean) is that it doesn't focus on the tiers of the unemployed. What I mean by this is that while unemployment may range from 8-10% in your area that is a generalized median average of unemployed individuals.

If you dig deeper into the actual numbers you'll see that people are actually experiencing unemployment rates based on their level of education, experience and the job sector they have been working on. That doesn't help you much if you are struggling to find work right now, but the info should give you a little more hope about the future and maybe some ideas on how to get past the struggle and pack to work.

The first, most important thing is to never give up. Persistence is a hugely important part of your job hunt. It doesn't really matter where you fall in the career skills department as long as you have marketable skills. So what are marketable skills? What can you do to make yourself stand out over other job seekers?

How to get a job quickly?

There are a few different ways to put yourself in a position that will allow you to stand out more than others based on who you are. If you are like many of the other workers of this generation, you have likely been employed in a wide variety of positions. While short employment stints and a resume that shows you moving from one employer to another won't always get you a big star on your resume, how you write your diverse experience will get you that star. For example, say you have worked fast food or retail, in car sales, through an online customer service company, over the phone in collection or telemarketing, and an attempt at some work-from-home opportunities, you have a huge range of skills that each job has taught you.

Highlight the best of those in your work history, but make a special area that breaks down the specific skills you have gained over your working life. Things like your ability to work well with people, being a self-motivated hard worker (based on your work-from-home experience) and the ability to work hard and succeed in sales will all put you in a good light. Be prepared to back up each of these claims if you land an interview though.

Do we get job through reference?

Beyond your resume, there are some additional steps that can get you working quickly. Employers are more likely to hire people that have an emotional or personal connection too. When I was younger I wanted to work at a video game retail store so badly that it hurt. I couldn't get the job though because the competition was high and I had very little experience in retail. My idea to get in was a big risk but it paid off. Each day after work, I would go hang out with the staff at the retail shop, stayed out of the way when they were busy, then spent the rest of the time just chit chatting with them. I always offered to do little things to help, like going out to get a soda for myself asking if they wanted one, and ensured that I was there as someone to talk to, while not taking away from their focus on the work.

After I felt pretty comfortable that they were getting to know and trust me, I quit my job and told them. About a week after I entered the world of the unemployed, they brought me on and I rose quickly in the job due to hard work and a love for the opportunity. This is a very specific story, but one that should give you a ton of ideas on how to find some work. Online job sites will let you more or less spam your resume to every employer out there, but it doesn't put a face or personality to the person. Try to mix the two and take

advantage of your free time to start shooting for something akin to what I did. Use your best asset, yourself, to sell yourself to the employer and you'll have a better chance at getting into the working world again.
