Match fixing in IPL - Sreeshanth, Ankit Chavan and Chandila arrested for spot fixing

Sreesanth who was in news more for his controversial statements regarding slapgate issues than playing on the field. Now Sreesanth is again in the news for another wrong issue and this tie he is arrested for spot fixing along with two other team mates Ankit Chavan and Chandila.

Rajasthan Royals had performed very well in IPL season 6 but during the last few days the team is now facing spot fixing issues and there three players were arrested on the basis of their conversation which matched the situation and footage of the match.


Matches fixed in IPL season 6


Total 12 matches of IPL 6, 2013 is expected to have some kind of fixing however three matches came under the scanner: are Rajasthan Royals vs Pune Warriors or May 6, Rajasthan Royals v Kings XI Punjab on May 9 and Rajasthan Royals v Mumbai Indians on May 15. Neeraj Kumar, Delhi Police commissioner revealed that one over has been fixed for 60 lakhs. He also said that mastermind of this fixing is sitting abroad and among the bookies one is very close friend of Sreesanth.

Players involved in spot fixing in IPL matches


At present three has been arrested and all from Rajasthan Royals, Neeraj Kumar, Delhi Police commissioner said that more names will come after investigations. However at present he indicated that only Rajasthan Royals players are involved and had arrested Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan for spot fixing after seeing match footage and their conversation.

In the match against Kings XI Punjab there was a fixing that Sreesanth will give plenty of runs in the over which he will bowl putting a towel in his trouser and footage revealed that previously he bowled without a towel and in that expensive over he put a towel in his trouser.



Ajit Chandila in his conversation indicated that he will lift his shirts, and then will look skywards before the over in which he will go for plenty of runs, however Chandila forgot to give the indication but gave away those 14 runs without indication.

In the match against Mumbai Indians when Chandila was not in the playing 11, he motivated Ankit Chavan for spot fixing. Chavan agreed to fix his overs apart from 1st over and in his first over he gave just 2 runs and went for 15 runs in just 3 balls in next over.

More news is to be revealed as many more big shots are expected to be involved in this spot fixing. At present all these three players are arrested and case has been registered under section 420 and 120 B.
