Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 versus Apple iPad 3: A comparative review

Find out whether Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 or Apple iPad 3 which is better from this comparative review. Who's going to win the race, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 or Apple iPad 3? Which is a better choice?

With the introduction of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Apple iPad 3 has yet another strong contestant. Undoubtedly, Apple has been the most successful tablet computer manufacturing brand in the market ever since the launch of the original Apple iPad back in 2010. Since then all the top tablet brands across the world have constantly tried to match the popularity and market sales of Apple iPad, to avail varying degrees of success. That old battle between Apple iPad and other tablets is live once again with Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 stepping into the ring. Earlier we compared Apple iPad 3 versus Asus Transformer Prime, and I was a little inclined to the Asus Transformer Prime. For me a prime reason to prefer Asus Transformer Prime over Apple iPad 3 was the former's operating system — Android 3.2 Honeycomb (I so badly love the Google Android OS!). The point is, Apple may not enjoy the lion's share of the tablet market any longer and is already feeling some heat from its close competitors. It will be interesting to see if Samsung with its Android OS can make the battle even hotter. Let us try to find ourselves Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 or Apple iPad 3 which is better.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 versus Apple iPad 3:Display comparison

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 versus Apple iPad 3Apple is well known for its display quality with the Retina Display technology. And, as we know, the 9.7 inch Apple iPad 3 IPS LCD display boasts a whooping 1536×2048 display resolution (resulting in 264 PPI or Pixel Per Inch density). On the other hand the display quality of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is 1280×800. So, in terms of display, Apple iPad 3 is way better than Galaxy Note 10.1, which only has a PPI density of 149. In fact, the display resolution of Galaxy Note 10.1 is exactly the same as Galaxy Note (5.3 inch) display, and unless Samsung focuses on increasing display resolution in its next generation tablets, there are tough times ahead. A PPI density below 200 is never acceptable from a top quality tablet manufacturer brand.
